Shed Chicken Coop

After adding to our flock, we decided to convert an old shed on the property to a larger chicken coop. The back part of the shed is the actual coop and the remaining part in the front is a storage area for feed.

We painted it to match the roof of the other coop, and added a window to the door. This coop has 8 nesting boxes. I think it needs another window on the back side, and we are also going to add some vents.

It has a run on the back that leads out to our “mini orchard” of 3 apple trees.

I didn’t realize so many of the girls slept up high. This was a shot I took when closing them up for the night. We plan on closing that open area up top this spring. The girls love to fly over and lay in the alfalfa bales. They make the biggest mess!
